Good... then enable tracing at a reasonably high debug level in the SD 
before the job starts, so you can later see what the SD actually does.

Also, perhaps watch the system log for anything disk or file system 
related while that volume is used.

There are people saying ReiserFS is not very robust... I can't comment 
on that, I use ReiserFS, xfs, jfs, ext2/3, and never had problems I 
could attribute to any of these file systems.
