I would update the catalog to reflect the new client id.

Currently, this can be done by accessing the catlog directly.

You will need to change the ClientIds in the Job table from the old id 
to the new id *at least*. I haven't investigated but it might be 
possible that there are columns in other tables to be changed, too.

I renamed a machine once by only changing the machine name in the 
Client table while the DIR was not running, changed the client 
resource, and restarted the DIR. I believe that worked...
