Yes, I've let the tape settle before entering the mount command.

The only message from the time of the event was:

Feb  8 21:37:36 epohost restorecond: Will not restore a file with more than one 
hard link (/etc/resolv.conf) Invalid argument

But I don't believe it has anything to do with the problem.
