Hi, Looks like the encryption mystery has been solved. It seems the problem was my fault (kind of), possibly a lack of understanding. I have just booted up the machine in BartPE and restored the encrypted backup to the C drive. Everything seems to have gone over okay.
So it appears the encryption problems happen when restoring to a live system. This is fair enough, but why does an unencrypted backup set restore fine on a live system when an encrypted one does not?
