Bacula can certainly do what you are looking for. What I would be concerned about is putting an intern in charge of your backup solution - any backup solution. When disaster strikes, who will remember how the backup works and how to restore?
The other concern is that network backup requires some experience with networking, to deal with such things as performance/backup windows, shoeshining (if you use tape for backup), security, ...
