Hey list
Situation: About 250 bacula 5.0.3 installations in very small client
environments. All have bweb installed and working, together with the
ExtJS based bresto web interface for easy file restore by the clients
that know enough about it to do so.
Now for the most part this works wonderful. The few clients that have
the guts and knowledge to restore files themselves can do so, and our
firstline helpdesk also likes the webinterface.
At some clients though we have a few "regular/random" issues with the
bresto interface:
* One issue that pops up every now and then is related to special
characters. If a folder has a subfolder or file in it that contains
a special character like (e.g.) é, è, or ë, the directory tree to
the left stops at that parent folder and doesn't show anything
beneath it anymore.
* More annoying is this "bug": Sometimes the data for a certain backup
won't load at all. It seems like there is some kind of timeout after
selecting the client and backup date. It'll seem like it's loading
(rotating icon), only to just stop after a while and not display a
directory tree at all. (only the "Root" folder will show) I can't
seem to find anything different with the jobs that show this bug
compared to the ones that do load.
There are no errors in mysql logs or system logs, only this in
apache logs:
/[Wed Jan 25 14:29:14 2012] [error] [client IP] Use of uninitialized
value in concatenation (.) or string at
/var/www/cgi-bin/bweb/bresto.pl line 1124., referer:
http://client/bweb/bresto.html
[Wed Jan 25 14:29:35 2012] [error] [client IP] Use of uninitialized
value in concatenation (.) or string at
/var/www/cgi-bin/bweb/bresto.pl line 1108., referer:
http://client/bweb/bresto.html/
I've tried to see in the code what's missing here but I've 0
experience with bvfs and its structure so it's not getting me anywhere.
Has anyone encountered these issues and managed to solve them? I'd try
if the newer build with 5.2.4 has these issues solved but I've had no
luck getting that version to work.
And yes I know I can restore them via bconsole, which is how I usually
solve the problem as I prefer the console. There are a few clients
however that absolutely want to be able to restore anything by
themselves via the webinterface.
Regards,
Jeremy
