Hi folks,

may sb rembers: I had already written to this list with this problem on
12/2025.

Unfortunately, the problem is still here:

Some (not all) bigger Backups (> ca. 300GB) keep failing with: Error: Error
syncing volume "Vol-0498" on device "$DEV" (/mnt/$MOUNTPOINT). ERR=Out of
memory.
Sometime (not always) there is also the error:  Appending data failed
18-Mar 21:28 dir-$DIR JobId 5160: Error: openssl.c:108 TLS read/write failure.:
ERR=error:80000020:system library::Broken pipe

My setup is Bacula 15.0.2, running in docker containers. The backups are made
to SMB-Volumes (some on a local NAS, some at Hetzner, both are failing from
time to time).
This happens since I have upgraded from Debian 12 to 13, before everything ran
well for about 1 1/2 years.

What I have already tried:
* Set cache of on the SMB mount ("cache=none" instead of "cache=strict"): Seems
to help in some way, but slows down the bacpups about 10c
   - Set the max size of the volumes to 5GB instead of 50 GB. No change
The server hab 50 cores and 128 GB of RAM, which did not get to used to
capacity (controlled this in our monitoring at the time when the errors came
up).

Has anybody any idea please?

Thank you in advance!

Bruno
