In a wonderful passage from the Master addressed to a lady in America there was mention of a tree and in the same passage there is encouragement from 'Abdu'l-Baha that she should "peruse" the Book of Revelation ** Dear friends, In the passage below by 'Abdul-Baha can anyone comment on what 'tree of fire', and 'a light shining forth unto all sides' means? Thank you, Larry ********************************************* "O maid-servant of God! Trust in the grace of thy Lord. He shall surely assist thee with a confirmation whereat minds will be amazed and the thoughts of the men of learning will be astonished. Consider the divine splendours in Green Acre: One of them is the tree of fire and another is what was witnessed by thy friend --a light shining forth unto all sides. This is through a grace of thy Lord unto thee! Consequently, be engaged in perusing St. John's Revelation; all these signs are spoken of in that vision. Thou shalt soon behold (things) still greater than this." (Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v2, p. 285)   I have been able to locate the original text of this Tablet of 'Abdu'l-Baha, may my life be  a sacrifice to His utterance. The original is in a Volume numbered 81 of His Writings [INBA 81] page 6.   The translation is very good. but just a few notes that may be helpful. **Consider the divine splendours in Green Acre** the original reads **unz.uree ilaa at -tajalliyyaat fee Green 'Akka** tajalliyyaat is the plural of tajallee [from the tri-literal root J. L. W.] and it occurs in the Holy Qur'an In Arabic a light shines [emanates] from a certain source and that light becomes manifest and perspicuous in the recipient. The recipient receives. The source does the **TAJALLEE**-ing [so to speak] 7: 143 **And when his Lord revealed (His) glory to the mountain ** **When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount** **And when God manifested Himself to the mountain ** = falamma tajalla rabbuhu liljabali So in the Tablet the Centre of the Covenant says **look at these splendours, lights manifested in Green Acre...** ie the consequences of the Faith of God manifested there...these consequences are realized both externally [in the horizons => afaaq] and in the souls [anfus] one of these effulgences of light manifesting themselves is in the [shajarat in-naar] in the tree of fire [the fire of the love of God, the love of Baha'u'llah ignited there] and the other is that which your friend saw a s light shining over all regions...and the Master encourages reading the Revelation [literally Vision = **ru'yaa** ] of Saint John the Divine. and finally He, the bringer of that Light and Love to America, says: all these are **maz.kuurun fee tilka r ru'yaa] all these consequences are mentioned in the Vision of John *** Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. yielded her fruit every month => the Teachings of this Promised Revelation yielding fruit every month ** yielded her fruit every month — Greek, "according to each month"; each month had its own proper fruit, just as different seasons are now marked by their own productions; only that then, unlike now, there shall be no season without its fruit, and there shall be an endless variety, answering to twelve, the number of symbolism....**   as to light ** Rev 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
