Yes, Rufus....Continental received approval by MT Board of O & G Conservation for overlapping spacing units in September...Several other companies...XTO, Burlington..applied for the same overlapping units in the October meeting...approval pending....Picture it as follows: originally 2 section spacing..say 4 and 9...1280 acres...3 north-south 2 mile lateral wells have been drilled on 4 and 9...say one 1000 feet from the east lease line.....say one 1000 feet from the west lease line....and say one in the middle....those 3 wells were all part of the 4/9 1280 spacing...these overlapping spacings will run right on the east lease line and another on the west lease line...the first overlapping spacing will include 4/9/5/8--a 2560 acre spacing....the second overlapping spacing will include 4/9/3/10 a 2560 acre spacing.....so if I owned all of the minerals in 4 and 9, but none of the minerals in 5,8,3,10....I would have 3 "full" wells and 2 "half" wells if this makes sense.....Continental docketed 24 of these requests in the MT Sept meeting and XTO and Burlington another dozen or so for the Oct heading...so this is the wave coming next...Picture these two sections with five north and south laterals.....maybe someday, they will do east west laterals along the top and bottom lease lines and have different overlapping spacings with those sections....that is very possible down the road if these high density wells are paying off....In Elm Coulee now, many of the sections have 3 wells or about to get a 3rd well.......amazing...This density could carry over to Mountrail/Parshall in time, although it seems that most of those early wells are done diagonally accross the section, so it will look different...but still with higher density down the road.....after acreage is held by production and expiring leases are drilled. It will be interesting to watch how production is on these new overlapping wells...Perhaps this is all being done to set the table for carbon dioxide injection...Lot's of activity to watch!...Hope this answers your question, Rufus.....Steve
