Partai Pembajak berhasil meraih kemenangan pertama mereka. Partai yang
hendak melegalkan berbagi file di internet itu meraih satu kursi di
parlemen.
Seperti dikutip detikINET dari AFP,
Senin (8/6/2009), Pirate Party (Piratpartiet) meraup 7,1 persen suara
dan mendapatkan 1 kursi dalam parlemen Uni Eropa (European Parliament).
Partai tersebut memiliki misi untuk melegalkan berbagi file melalui
internet dan memperkuat privasi di web.
"Isu privasi dan
kemerdekaan sipil adalah hal penting bagi rakyat dan mereka
menunjukkannya dalam pemilihan," ujar Anna Troberg, salah satu caleg
Pirate Party.
Partai yang didirikan tahun 2006 tersebut
menarik simpati masyarakat Swedia yang kecewa dengan peraturan yang
mengkriminalkan pengguna internet yang aktif berbagi file. Selain itu,
mereka juga kecewa karena adanya peraturan yang melegalkan pengawasan
e-mail oleh pihak berwenang.
Kasus didakwanya empat pendiri The Pirate Bay
juga membuat keanggotaan Pirate Party meningkat pesat. Empat warga
negara Swedia pada 17 April 2009 didakwa bersalah menjalankan situs The
Pirate Bay yang banyak digunakan pengguna internet untuk mencari dan
mengunduh file bajakan.
