*Large demonstration in central Jakarta dated 1st May 06 * The purpose of this advisory is to make all employees aware of the upcoming demonstration in central Jakarta. This demonstration is linked to the new impending Labour Laws. Police anticipate up to 50,000 people will descend on the capital for this rally. There is no indication that the demonstration will turn violent, but vigilance must remain paramount. The demonstrations will start around 09:00am on 1st May 06 at the Indonesian roundabout then make their way to the Presidential Palace, the protest will culminate in a mass rally outside the MPRN Labour Building in Samanggi. Government establishments and other companies throughout the capital have made the decision to remain closed for the day. Our safety and the safety of all families is our highest priority. The security team is monitoring the situation closely leading up to the protest and will pass on any relevant information as and when the situation changes. Please be advised to avoid the protest route mentioned above throughout this period of heightened tension, and re-schedule business meetings located in any of these areas.
