Can anyone please confirm the following please?
(I type faster than I think). This could happen if "Use TLS" is set to "required". This server does not support it. Obviously, user should get a human-readable message...

I ran ethereal, and it looks like it does not event try to log. I can see the following dialog 4 times when I try to open a mailbox on the server:
