I don't know--in my setup (FC3/metacity), the geometry is remembered through both reopening and rebooting. What's your setup? Is anyone else seeing this issue?
Nit 2. There appears to be no way to configure the 'new mail' sound per user. That would be nice.
(Gnome) preferences->sound->sound events->Balsa E-mail reader->New mail notification?
