Hi.

I've configured balsa to access an Imap server that supports TLS.
This works fine with Evolution and Alpine, but the Balsa's latest
stable version cant access the server when TLS support is enabled or
configured to see if the support exists. The same for the latest svn
version.

I've debugged the sessions, with and without TLS support. The output
follows under attachment.

The problem is the imap server you use does not follow IMAP standard as defined in RFC3501. It's response to CAPABILITY command includes "[imapproxy04]" but the standard says the CAPABILITY response consists of a series of atoms, which must not contain ']' character. Balsa encounters ']' and gets confused.

I am not sure what to do. No, I am sure about one thing: the author of the imap proxy service should be contacted and asked to fix his/her software. I am not sure what balsa can do about it. We could always try to recover by ignoring all the characters up to the end of the line but this is definitely a workaround only...
