If you don't mind:
the best thing to do to debug SMTP (if possible):
1. Turn off encryption
2. tcpdump -ni eth0 -s 2000 -w /tmp/smtp.pcap
3. if any, replace private info from the file with "xxxx"
Then send it to someone to see.
