Testing the gtk3 branch with Gtk version 3.6 revealed various deprecation issues. Primarily, support for calling Gtk from sub-threads is now deprecated. Such calls are quite deeply embedded in Balsa's threaded code, and removing them will take some serious effort. The best way forward seems to be to support only unthreaded builds in 3.6 until the issues can be resolved. The gtk3 branch now builds and runs with Gtk version 3.6, provided threads are disabled.
