Dear List,

GtkSpell, which Balsa has used to provide inline spell checking, is not
actively maintained, and can be replaced with Gspell[1] with no loss of

by LaTeXila.

Well, it turns out that "no loss of functionality" will be complete only with
the release of Gspell version 1.2. GtkSpell allows the user to change the spell-checking
language through the context (right-click) menu; that feature will be implemented in
Gspell's API version 1.2, which is currently being tested in the unstable 1.1 series, but
is not in the 1.0 releases.

Balsa has conditional support for that feature that has been tested using
jhbuild, but of course the API is not yet stable, and Balsa's support will need
to follow any API changes.
