OTTAWA --- Smiling broadly at reporters, Mohamed Harkat explained
Tuesday how much he enjoyed his first day of relative freedom after a
Federal Court judge lifted the strict bail conditions the terrorism
suspect had been living under since being released from jail three years
ago.

As of this spring, 28 of the 33 Guantanamo detainees whose cases have
gone before federal judges have been ordered released for lack of evidence.
And I don't mean insufficient evidence to find them guilty, I mean
insufficient evidence to even justify keeping them imprisoned (the
figures come from blogger and attorney Glenn Greenwald).

information related to the treatment of prisoners at the US detention
