The game will need a "map" module, that would allow the player to
interact with a map during some of the missions.

As I was quickly mentioning it in my last email, currently we're
investigating the feasibility of two different missions:

1) Camera video surveillance (I've attached emails from the thread to
give you some context). The map would allow to see where the
videocameras are on the map, what area they cover, allow the player to
select the feed from a given camera and update the location of the enemy
they are tracking by placing markers

2) Geocaching - players would for example have to hide a QR Code in one
of the geocaching.com caches, to allow another player to retreive it
there later on. The map would allow to find nearby caches (need to see
how/if we can retrieve the cache coordinates) and select one to plant
the code.

For what you would have to do - it's up to you to decide what part you'd
like to work on. If we use FacilMap as a basis, we would need to add
modifications/features on top of it (markers for cameras, layer to
represent the zone they cover, custom building map layer if we need
something more precise than the street-level data of OSM, display of
cache markers, etc.). And integrate FacilMap in the Humanity Project
codebase. What would interest you the most to work on here?

We work with small iterations, meant to last about one day each - as
soon as we get a better idea of what can be done and how, and if we go
for FacilMap, we would decide together of a small deliverable that you
think you can accomplish within 1 day, and then see how it goes.

Btw, what is your daily rate?

Xavier.

Just entered this on the ideas:

"The mission would give access to video feeds of surveillance camera
inside a building. The player can only see 3-4 feeds at a given time,
but has access to a map of the building where he can switch between
cameras. His goal is to help a SWAT intervention by keeping the location
of an intruder updated, by following his progression inside the
building."

What do you think of this? Would be fun to record those video
footages : )

We just need to be 2-3, a small video camera and a good place. The rest
would be javascript and design.

Xavier.

Looks like a great idea! Wow! Awesome.

: ) Glad you like it ;p

I've been giving it some thoughts today, and I'm hesitating on what
would be a good place for this minigame. Maybe you'll have some good
insights here, it's your domain : )

- Appartments or houses are too small for the game to be interesting
- Streets are probably too large (it takes a long time to walk around a
city, would give a very slow-paced game) - but there we can reuse stuff
from OpenStreetMaps.
- Public buildings or offices would probably be ideal, but I'm not sure
how hard/costly it would be to obtain the proper authorization, along
with the corresponding maps

What do you think?

Xavier.

I'll keep it mind. I may be able to find a place, who knows... A great
Manhattan building with some exterior and interior cameras. I can ask on
social media perhaps? Let's chat about it next week.

I can think of some locations that are catering to multimedia and video game
people, acting schools, actors workshops, multimedia schools.... who would
be open to such a project.
