I'm considering potential upgrades to an aging Bacula 5.2.6 installation, and I had a few questions after reading through the Bareos documentation.
* I understand that the bareos-fd is compatible with the Bacula server (sd/dir) - but is the Bareos client (fd) compatible with the bacula servers from version 5.x, 7.x, or both? I currently have a few Windows clients that appear to be having issues with the standard 5.2.x Windows-bacula client (due to network problems) and I would like to see if using the bareos Windows client in compatible mode will help alleviate this. * In this same vein, could a potential migration path to bareos be to upgrade all of the bacula-fd clients to the bareos-fd, and then upgrade the server (sd/dir) at a later date? * I understand that the bacula-to-bareos migration process involves changing the server user name and then renaming the database. But what about the configuration files? Can the Bareos server use configuration files from Bacula 5.x? * Is it true that the Bareos server (sd/dir) is compatible with legacy 5.2.x Bacula clients? If so, is this specific to a version of Bareos or is this true for all versions? * What is the current recommended version of Bareos? Thanks for any information or recommendations you can offer. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "bareos-users" group.
