I have a recurrent problem when running copy jobs to my LTO2 tape device. At work I have a "WeeklyPool" on disk which is used to make full backups every Saturday. The copy job copies then the last uncopied jobs to a "WeeklyCopyPool" on tape so I can take it off-site. Currently a full backup takes ~180GB and our LTO2 tapes have a 200GB capacity.
When running the copy job, at some point Bareos marks the tape as Full and waits for another tape but the tape is not full. This problem happened from time to time in the past. Purging the tape or using a different one and running the copy job again worked, but in the last weeks it has become worse and I can't complete any copy job without having the tape marked as Full. I've already tried running the copy job on different tapes and cleaning the tape drive with the cleaning tape, but it didn't help. Here the message I get when the tape is marked as full: 12-Sep 16:18 poweredge-dir JobId 4799: Start Copying JobId 4799, Job=weeklypool-copy-job.2015-09-12_13.00.00_35 12-Sep 16:18 poweredge-dir JobId 4799: Using Device "DiskStorage" to read. 12-Sep 16:18 poweredge-dir JobId 4799: Using Device "LTO-2-Tape" to write. 12-Sep 16:18 poweredge-sd JobId 4799: Ready to read from volume "Weekly-Vol-1" on device "DiskStorage" (/mnt/backup). 12-Sep 16:18 poweredge-sd JobId 4799: Forward spacing Volume "Weekly-Vol-1" to file:block 37:104359420. 12-Sep 16:34 poweredge-sd JobId 4799: End of Volume "Weekly-Copy-Vol-1" at 185:5040 on device "LTO-2-Tape" (/dev/nst0). Cannot find any appendable volumes. Is it a bug in bareos or a problem with my tapes/tape drive? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "bareos-users" group.
