I use Proxmox and have built a solution. I have extra space on my backup
storage node and have added NFS to it. Then I
added an NFS storage on Promox pointed to the NFS and have special jobs that run
the backup. It is not as clean as
I would like but it does provide backup.

I am using Promox's internal backup process to generate the backups. It does
take more space that something that
can look into the images and pull only changed blocks for Diffs. but it works.
