I really have a definite opinion. I really think the Burkholtzer is the way to go.... it is a very lovely shape, it has a beautiful, all around fantastic sound.... not too shrill, not too deep, etc. I have used a Burkholtzer for the past 22 years, and I never tire of it. The shorter mensur is of course to your advantage, because at that length, you can also use gut trebles and have them not break often.
