Somewhat OT:
Fernando de Luca, an Italian composer-friend of mine has written a truly fine harpsichord suite entitled LA RIVOLUZIONE AMERICANA:

David,

I'm not a specialist on this subject at all, but I've got this recording by
Hesperus called "Early American Roots: Spirited new sounds from early
Colonial America - from the arrival of the first colonists to the American
Revolution and the birth of our republic".

I've noticed it includes some British composers like Playford and Hume but
perhaps other that might interest you. Take a look at

Best,

Nicolás

There isn't a great deal of early North American music of which I am
aware, but one of the prominent musicians was Francis
Hopkinson. Perhaps you could find some pieces by him.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Hopkinson

He was an early statesman, congressman, signer of the Declaration of
Independence, a friend of Benjamin Franklin, started the Saturday
Evening Post, and he was a composer.

Our lutenist Hopkinson Smith is a direct descendent of him, I believe
about 6 or generations ago; as well, Hoppy was named after him.

Recordings of Francis Hopkinson are rare.

I'm playing rather a lot of South American Baroque music these days,
quite the fasion, but was wondering if there is any North American
Baroque music? I'm not expecting any lute mss, but would be happy with
some continuo songs for an upcoming recital.
