Yes this is going to be fraught with problems:

We shouldn't be creating or even attempting to create a gui, anyone
interested in getting a really good gui for blackberry syncing needs
to work with me, John Carr and others who are attempting to formalise
the intergration for all syncing devices such that a very good gui can
be made for all devices instead of wasting time of a poor gui for just
one.

John is already stressed from having to convince f-spot and other
applications to stop trying to implement their own sync engines and
deal with a single framework.
