Thanks Chris:
Your suggestion worked, I am able to backup the addressbook, calendar, and
notes without error! For everyone's benefit, I will put some details down:
1) I recently upgraded to the latest 8100 FW version 4.2 something. That
didn't affect this problem however. I have also tried
USB1.1/2.0 ports,
and newest kernels.
2) I can't do barrybackup -d ATM, maybe after some more experimentation.
3) Limiting the databases sure worked! I had errors more often with large
items like the content store.
Regarding tethering: with pppob, I noticed a BB reboot only when the computer
was trying to send a bunch of data. I tried an online speedtest, and it
rebooted during the upload part of the test, IOW the computer was sending
data to the BB. I thankfully can do normal browsing and email without
problem tho!
Other notes: I'll try to do some better investigation around my errors to see
why the problem. Here are some errors I have gotten with barrybackup.
>Restore error: Error while restoring CustomWordsCollection. Desktop: could
>not clear database: (command: 0x41, code: 0x2) Will continue processing.
>Restore error: Error while restoring Handheld Key Store. (-110, No error):
>Timeout in usb_bulk_read Will continue processing.
