Did you ever work out how to identify a given BlackBerry device? having good identification for devices is key if you want to move functionality up into userspace. If you can create a black berry information dobry that's used by dbi and/or hal to populate stuff ready for userland. _that_ would be useful. So long as hardware identification, power management (you know) and low level interfaces are kernel bound. The user space can excel then at cooking up some cool stuff.
