Hi list, A little trivia for everyone... Barry is 4 years old today. If you take a peek at the ChangeLog file in the source tree, you'll notice that on this day in 2005, the project was started. It began in a private tree, a NetDirect project from the start, and it arrived at SourceForge a little later, about November that same year.
The temporary name for the project, until we could think of something proper, was "syncberry", but since it had "berry" in the name, we thought it was too close to BlackBerry to use as a real name. Since that day, according to the current git repo, there have been a total of 1582 commits. Using wc -l, there are 53,983 lines of code. (*.h, *.c, *.cc, *.sh) There are 32 total contributors listed in AUTHORS. According to SourceForge's download statistics, there have been 140,177 file downloads, totalling 56.1 GB. Barry is now in 4 distros that I know of: Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, and Mandriva. It targets 32bit and 64bit systems, and is portable to the BSDs. Thanks to everyone who helped make Barry what it is today, including code contributors, testers, binary package volunteers. And especially NetDirect: Barry wouldn't be here without them.
