Makes sense. I might have got a bit over-excited at the chance to use 
STL iterators as I normally develop on platforms that don't have STL :)

Thanks for all your comments. I'll split everything up, make the other 
suggested changes and reapply it from master on git://repo.or.cz/barry. 
I'll let you know what I've done that.
