Here are some general MailScanner troubleshooting steps:
- Stop MailScanner (service mailscanner stop) then run "MailScanner
--debug --debug-sa" to see where the problem might be.
- Check your Virus Scanners.  If using clamav, only use clamd and not
clamav module in MailScanner.conf.
- Check your DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf.  It is recommended to
install a local caching DNS server and
set your /etc/resolv.conf to "nameserver 127.0.0.1" for high volume servers.
- Run "spamassassin -D --lint" and check all of the times to see if
the delay is in SpamAssassin.
