Ø The only reply you’re getting from ldapsearch is the same error you’re
receiving from python ldap: your bind to the AD domain is unsuccessful. You
haven’t had a successful bind to your ADdomain using python ldap or ldapsearch…
it’d be nice to confirm that you can bind to your AD domain using a standard
tool before troubleshooting any Baruwa issues.

Yes, because I wasn’t using the correct syntax. I know it *should* work. By
the way
http://www.macenterprise.org/articles/searchingactivedirectorywithldapsearch is
a much better article than the one you provided since it is written with AD in
mind.

Using this does yields valid output : ldapsearch -h
mydirectoryserver.domain.com -x -b "DC=domain,DC=com" -D "[email protected]"
-W "sAMAccountName=AnAccountIwantoLookup"

I found a nasty bug in ldapsearch in the process, using –W and –w at the same
time gives an assertion failed. ☺

Now that we have the possible authentication failure on host/network level out
of the way, can we get back at trying to fix the issue?

Ø You’ll need to upgrade to the latest version of Baruwa to use the updated
ad.py: http://www.baruwa.org/docs/1.0/upgrade.html

Ø Otherwise you’ll need to revert back to the original ad.py since the latest
version allows multi AD domain authentication (which is why you’re getting the
error about the missing MailADAuthHost class).

I’m not sure what you mean. Do you mean upgrading to 1.1.2, or to 2.0? As far
as I know I have 1.1.2 installed.
