There are some other things you can do with innodb. Bit longer instructions and
I am pretty lazy. So I asked google to find someone who typed it for me. Here
you go:

http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?35,121880,121886

Also, pretty easy to move your installation onto a new disk that is bigger.
All your settings and stuff are stored in text files, for the most part. I
will let you google that for yourself if you feel inclined to do it.

Space is cheap. Not sure why your trying to recover a
few hundred MBs.

Sounds like you have a InnoDB table, not MyISAM. You can make OPTIMIZE
TABLE work on other engines by starting mysqld --skip-new

the exact message is: TABLE DOES NOT SUPPORT OPTIMIZE,DOING
RECREATE+ANALYZE

Have you run ‘OPTIMIZE TABLE’? See

for some helpful information (and some considerations regarding the growth
