It could be due to caching. You may have to restart Tomcat if you want
to give the new platform the same external ID as the deleted one. Since
this is not supposed to change, cached information doesn't expire.

The Tab2Mage exporter is quite old. In fact, it is older than the
"Platform" concept of BASE which was introduced in BASE 2.5. I don't
know how well the Tab2Mage exporter works with the current BASE version,
since it is nothing that we test. It may depend on the experiment type.
For example, I know that the Tab2Mage importer has problems with
Affymetrix experiments, since the implementation of that changed in BASE
2.5.
