Hi Eric, 

you are right, Saxon-CE is one neat piece of software :-)
By coincidence, on of our users showed off a funny Saxon-CE demo[1;2, beware: 
addictive] at the XML Prague Demo Jam, and won an iPad. 

As we were fooling around, we thought it might also be worth a try, porting 
some of the BaseX Code, with help of GWT, to work on the underlying DOM. 
We'd be glad to have a little more feedback, or maybe even better: volunteers 
:-)
