A short recap on the weekend: 1). Sideline presence was the best it has ever
been.
That needs to be a constant at Regionals.

2). Intensity and focus were outstanding.
For the rest of the season we should be constantly reviewing in our minds
the fundamentals, stoppage plays, getting a layout block, positioning in the
cup, pivoting with disc, centering the disc, etc, etc...

3). Turnovers were at a minimum.
Still we need to eliminate those turnovers at critical points in the game.
At turnover when the game is 3-3 is much different than when the score is
12-12. Believe that we will be in those types of games.

Going forward these next two weeks are critical for us. We are not getting
together until Clambake and many of us will be at various tournaments this
coming weekend. With that in mind we have to make sure that we continue to
play with good habits Don't fall into the the trap of playing pick-up style
ultimate - i.e. lazy defense, poor decision making, not running hard all the
time. Go and have fun this weekend but play the way we practice. Something
like centering the disc to a handler has to be reflexive not because someone
is shouting it from the sideline. You can apply this concept to any of the
things we've worked on this season. As for Clambake, yes we'll go in and
have a good time but we also need to play our game as it will be our last
time together before Regionals. Treat Saturday during the day at Clambake as
a practice. Saturday night will be a different story.

There is no reason that any of us should play down to the level of
competition, ever. Winning athletes never let up for a single second.

Here is some motivation for all of you:

We could be playing great ultimate during the day and then hanging out on
the beach drinking a margarita and swimming with dolphins in the Gulf of
Mexico. Or we could be somewhere in upstate NY, dressed in Halloween
costumes, drunk, and playing at a 'fun tournament'.
