Scanning consecutive escapes seems to work now, unless the escape has 6 digits,
because

            if (ScannerUtilities.isCSSSpace((char)current)) {
                nextChar();
            }
            return;

is missing after scanning the 6th hex digit in escape() in
sources/org/apache/batik/css/parser/Scanner.java
