It seems as if I made a mistake in staging 1.7 to maven, somehow substituting a few new jars (compiled on my mac with Java 1.6) for the originals.
I've since thrown out all the intermediate materials from this. The easiest solution from my selfish standpoint would be if you all were to just so happen to be prepared to make a new release. I could help you set things up for deployment of the right jars to maven. I don't think that we have an option of replacing what's already out there under the same coordinates.
