Well, there seems to exist a small issue [1] for a combination of leading/trailing spaces and "xml:space" set to "preserve" which was raised a couple of months ago. Thomas has inclusively actually contributed with a possible workaround (getEndPositionOfChar) [2]. ;-) May this be what you are experiencing, Bruno?
