   Right, if you want the print transcoder to print a subsection of
the document then you need to pass an area of interest (AOI).  If
you want to split the document across multiple pages you will need
to either extend the transcoder or submit the document multiple
times with different area of interests.

   Right again.  Batik does not provide a full print preview
dialog, however the JSVGCanvas represents the major part of
such a dialog..
