 Without checking everywhere zips get used, I think you can get away
 with not changing the file format - just make the zip a list of a
 single string.  ("like this")

 Maybe if BBDB came with something like the bbdb perl package that
 comes with Thomas Deweese's SyncBBDB then file format changes
 wouldn't matter so much as there would be proper public interfaces
 for elisp and Perl (nobody uses anything else, do they ?).
