syncml defines *how* to sync data; it doesn't define *what* you're
syncing.

i looked into this a few months ago, but everything i found was stale.
the only real standard for addressbooks is vcard, which is not xml.  some
people have attempted to make an xml version.  i guess since none of the
dominant contact database programs -- outlook, palm, bbdb ;) -- support
XML, there hasn't been much momentum.

here's what i found.  if any of the following seem to be less than 12
mos. old, then let me know ...
