Is there a file /usr/local/lib/xemacs/local/gnus/gnus.el?
Or is it /usr/local/lib/xemacs/local/gnus/lisp/gnus.el?
If the latter, you may wish to adjust the directory.
Dunno anything about the new autoconf script, tho.
