The package bbdb3 (3.1.1-1) has entered Debian testing (aka jessie).  If
you are using Debian and have testing or unstable (jessie or sid) listed
in /etc/apt/sources.list, you should be able to

  apt-get install bbdb3

Or, the package can be manually downloaded and installed from

  http://packages.qa.debian.org/b/bbdb3.html

Note that bbdb3 conflicts with the old bbdb (2.x) package, and requires
GNU Emacs 23+.

I would welcome testing and bug reports, particularly regarding
installation, packaging, and integration with other Debian Emacs
packages.  I have not attempted to support xemacs, but would happily
integrate tested patches from xemacs users.
