That doesn't work for me because the source items are often not
from a BBEdit document or the dialog is already open because I
have just done one global replace and want to do another.
But if it's not from a BBEdit document then it shouldn't be an
issue. The modal dialog doesn't prevent switching to another app
and doing a copy.
Personally I find the Enter Search String and Enter Replacement
String (or whatever they are called, I hardly ever pull down the
menus) to be way better than copy & paste. It's fewer keystrokes
and 'special' characters get quoted properly.
I don't even notice that the find dialog is modal since it "just
works" for me. Even drag & drop from other apps works as expected.
