There are "scripts" and "filters" and I often have trouble figuring out what 
each of them does. I'll bet you folks had them in different sections.

I find it easier to just pass the version of the file on disk to an ordinary 
perl script. There's a preference in BBEdit that will cause an open version of 
a file to take notice of a change and reopen.

Just be sure to save the file before running an external script though.
