This still seems to be something that Splunk should be able to handle.

Yup, exactly... I don't want to process logs for creating statistics,
but instead have to look at the raw logs for debugging purposes.
Currently, I'm trying to optimize some monster mod_rewrite rules,
hence my wish to have the rewrite log colorized in a pretty and
helpful way when I open it in BBEdit.

I googled and all I could find were some Perl scripts that colorize
Apache's error and access logs, but no BBEdit plugins or language
modules... and nothing at all for colorizing rewrite logs. :-(

You mean, you want to make it easier to read raw logfiles, so you
don't want to use something like Analog, Summary, or Splunk?

Hi list,
I was wondering if anybody knew of a plugin that does "code/syntax
coloring" for Apache log files in BBEdit? --- It should support
coloring of access and error logs and especially of rewrite logs.
If anybody knows of other tools (web, command line, whatever) that
color Apache logs, especially rewrite logs, links are also greatly
appreciated.
