You should download the demo and try it out. I think you'll see that, even if the version number (let's face it, a somewhat arbitrary label) hasn't changed all that much, a ton of work went into this upgrade for a ton of nice changes.
The demo gives you a full month to try out the new capabilities. If you don't think it's worth the $30, you can wait until version 9, or some other time that feels right to you.
