Woohoo! The SA gods have shined their light upon me. I now have sftp
access to the system. Many thanks to the others (Chris and Peter)
that provided additional details for this topic.

PS-If you have ssh access, you could compile your own sftp-server,
or copy one from elsewhere and probably write a per-user config
file to use yours. Left as an exercise for the reader.
I used to play SA many years ago, back before ssh and friends were a
gleam in Al Gore's eye. As a non-SA at a large-ish company, I suspect
this would be a career-limiting move :-)
