I happened across an old html file which contains a table of greek
letters like this:

<tr>
  <td>ALPHA</td>
  <td>&Alpha;</td>
  <td>&alpha;</td>
</tr>

(and so on for all the letters)

Trouble is, with the exception of &pi; (which is identical to &Pi;)
none of these seem to display in the preview anymore, thought they are
all ok when I look at the file with Firefox (but they only display as
lowercase letters).

Has something changed in the last 5 years? I' fairly confident this
used to display upper and lowercase letters correctly or I would not
have left the file as it was.

Both &Alpha; and &alpha; show up in the entities palette, and there
the display is correct.
