I know what you mean about uncluttered windows but different strokes
for different folks and all that! :)
Obviously an option to toggle on and off permanently would suit those
that would prefer it (me!) and those that don't (Alex!) ;)
Talking of the UI - one of the things that has always kept me loyal to
BBEdit is the sparse/minimalist design of the entire interface, with
none of that Aquafied frippery and UI eye candy that many other Apple
developers seem to go completely overboard on. Having Live Search as a
permanent feature would - for me personally - add very little to the
overall clean UI design of BBEdit.

I worked around this by binding Command+F to live search, and Command

I prefer having my windows as un-cluttered as possible. I currently

interface element I only use occasionally.
My only niggle about live search is that it doesn't give the same
visual effects as Safari's does. I love the greying-out of the page
with the words I'm searching for being un-greyed, with that bouncy-
zoom effect of the highlight as it goes from found word to found
word (when you press Command+G or click "<" or ">" in the live
search bar). Am I a sucker for special effects, or am I a User
Experience connoisseur? ;)
Not to say that live search in BBEdit isn't amazingly useful :)
